(PCIR) Participant & Clinical Interactions Resources

The Participant and Clinical Interactions Resources (PCIR) Component, previously known as the Pittman General Clinical Research Center (GCRC), is revolutionizing the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s research culture by providing a highly efficient and flexible resource that participates in study development, implementation, and outreach and is sustainable through a comprehensive cost-recovery mechanism.

To achieve this vision, the PCIR is transforming the clinical resources of the GCRC to provide protocol-driven support focused on function; partnering with investigators to optimize research efficiency; and developing an economically self-sustaining infrastructure to support both the expansion of Center for Clinical Translational Science (CCTS) investigators and research protocols and the application of novel technologies and research approaches.
